Inauguration of climbing wall in Kakani ( 28 january 2006)
As part of the French cooperation with the « Nepal Mountaineering Association » (NMA), the French embassy financed the building of a climbing wall in Kakani, outside of Kathmandu where the construction of a mountain centre is underway. This wall was officially presented to M. Ang Tsering Sherpa, president of the NMA, by the French ambassador and by our compatriot Henry Sigayret who was the project manager. 12 meters high, with four facings, one dihedron, ridges and a small chimney, it will be used for the vocational and technical training of the Nepalese guides, but will also be at amateurs’ disposal. It is situated beside a tyrolian and rescue school, and various equipement.
